We have seven days people! Seven days until the house is loaded up with 14 family and friends for fried turkey.
So last night we had some wine, peeled up the blue tape we had used to protect the walls while we did the trim and of course it peeled off some of the paint it was meant to protect. So today I have to go around, again, and touch up the room. I'm officially procrastinating.
But it gets better. For you see there are no pictures today because I am coming to you live from the boyfriend's Free BSD machine because last night after the realization of how the tape is a pain in the ass...I proceeded to spill wine on the keyboard of my new laptop and it went black. It won't turn on. It will be going to an authorized dealer tomorrow for repairs. I have my case number in hand from the good folks at Toshiba.
So do you want to hear about the electric pole out front too?? Does everybody out there in Bloggy Land know what number to call if they have an electrical emergency? What number to call if you have to report a blackout? How about a cracking telephone/electric pole? Yeah. Ours out front has officially started to list toward the street. It comes out of the ground straight as an arrow for about two feet but after that it kind of takes a sharp tilt. It looks weird you know. It didn't stick out like a sore thumb before.
I really think it could come down with a heavy snowstorm. So I called the City first because really, it's a telephone pole right? But it has the power transformer do-hickey on it, cable and phone lines. So the City said to call our electric company, the big and mighty Dominion, it's their property. Who knew?
I called Dominion and had to slog through their menu options. The closest option I could get to was the "Report Downed Lines and Faulty Equipment" option. Now if you were reporting downed lines would you expect to sit on hold for 17 minutes?
So after 17 minutes on hold with the electric company and all the while the autotron continually telling me to "please hold" and "have you heard you can go to the website and have your questions answered there". While on hold I surfed the site and let's just say Dominion may be under the impression that these wooden poles have an unlimited lifespan and they don't need to be included or mentioned anywhere. So I used their comment section while on hold to mention this fact as well as thank goodness it wasn't a real emergency because I was still on hold. So finally I was able to speak to their representative who said somebody would be by to give it a look. Who knows when, but they'll take a look.
At least the stupid thing is tilting toward the street and probably won't come towards the house. Okay, now I can go paint...again...
Okay, I checked the calendar - Thanksgiving is more than seven days away - what gives?

Well, Michelle we tend to celebrate Thanksgiving the weekend before or after, so family who are coming from afar don't get stuck in the holiday travel chaos.
