Dear OMB, Special Investigators of the OMB and Their Management:
You called upon me to be interviewed so my friend can get a super-duper security clearance and I complied. Please understand that I don't have a normal 9 to 5 job, you can't just call me the day before and say you want to meet me at my office tomorrow and interview me for 10 minutes. I find out my schedule the night before and work in the offices of others, court houses, government buildings. I don't do the cube thing.
So your Special Investigator left me such a message on Wednesday saying that he wanted to meet with me on Thursday, so I returned his call immediately and I said sure what time? The person who schedules where I work had given me a window of time to meet with him and he seemed to work with me to make it between 1:30 and 1:45ish on Thursday 11/30 and it was going to take place at my house. "Do you need the directions?", I ask. "No, ma'am", he says. (Yes, I did ask to do it by phone but he wanted to meet in person.)
My job on Thursday ran a little late, so I wound up breaking laws to get home in time. BUT I was here on time and then I proceeded to wait for three hours for the Special Investigator to show up. He never showed or called. Twenty-four hours later he has yet to return my calls and in the meantime he has been able to call other people on the list for interviews.
I understand that you folks are understaffed and over burdened being a government agency and all, but come on. He could have called to say he couldn't make it. It's been well over 24 hours and this is important. I have no other numbers to call and speak to someone who knows how to do their job. If this is a tactic to make me angry, it's working. How will I react to you if I am actually interviewed?
You see I take this kind of crap personally. I try to respect other people's time and honor my appointments. I even call ahead to say I might be late or detained or things happened and I can't make it.
See now my suspicion is that you were too "busy" to meet up and just wrote down whatever to appease your requirements. So I'm writing this as a record if my friend is denied a clearance due to a made up interview. Because let me just say Special Investigator Numb-Nuts I am not happy. My time is important too. Do you not need to interview me now? Just tell me, don't ignore me. I worked with you, cleared time for you, rushed home to meet you in time, so I could sit around and watch sleeping cats and knit? (Yeah, I got a few more rows on my shawl done)
At this time I have no appreiciation for the OMB and their Investigators to say the least. I feel as though I have no recourse. I'm annoyed by this fact. So dear friends if you are ever called up for an interview by the OMB demand a few names and other people's numbers to call, you know, just in case.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Hi!
I tried to e-mail you back, but return e-mails are blocked by your blog. There's a little box you can check to undo that.
Onto the wire!
If you are in the States, this company was the best I've found.
http://www.rjleahy.com/
They have the best rates, their wire is sold by the pound, and they're very nice. Craft and jewellery suppliers tend to sell very little for very high prices.
Good luck!
