That is the question today. Do I really need this blog in the New Year?
Okay so I had a really bad day. To begin with I have laryngitis. I sound like Marge from The Simpson's. I rock.
By 8:30 am my cell phone had broken and by 10:30 am I found out that I had been double billed in error by Six Apart and in the process I sustained an overdraft. I use my debit card for my account, you know, no finance charges that way. But this month was/is sort of tight. For the next few years I will totally be living paycheck to paycheck, until I pay off the perpetual college loans and vehicle payments.
After locating a phone number I was able to leave several very hoarse messages to Six Apart and the third I do believe the words "You suck" popped out and I also opened two "help" tickets. But Joel In Support did me right. He called me around 4pm and I was able to fax a print out of my online banking statement to him and he called back less than an hour later to tell me that Six Apart is going to credit me $8.95 and the $32 overdraft charge by not charging me again until May 2007. That makes me feel good enough to delete today's earlier post.
And my cell phone, it was still under warranty and they replaced it for me for free. Go Cingular. Now, I'm on my umpteenth cup of tea with lemon so hopefully I will have a better voice for work tomorrow. Squeak, squeak, squeak.
So I will not cancel my blog because in fact I do need it. Be it for show and tell, be it for a good ranting, spleen cleaning, what have you, it is now a good friend.
I live paycheck to paycheck too, for the same reasons: student loans and car payment. Being in debt really sucks. I'm glad SixApart is crediting you, that's really nice of them. I had a similar thing happen to me a couple of months ago with my electric company. They double billed me and caused an overdraft, but they wouldn't pay the overdraft fee.
